It is clear that, human evolution will continue (Ward, 2009). Ward (2009) note that, there has been the common perception that, evolution of Homo sapiens is very little, especially after the prehistoric times. However, by using the recent genetic information collected from various populations across the globe, it is evident that, the pace at which the evolution of human beings is taking place has drastically increased, especially with the advent of cities and agriculture. Therefore, if Homo Sapiens continues to evolve, this raises the interest on how the future generation/species will look like. However, according to Ward (2009), the pace of evolution will depend on the ability for human beings to overcome the numerous social and environmental challenges, which we currently face such as global warming, economic crises, and incurable diseases like HIV/Aids (Pritchard, 2010).
When one is asked about the appearance of human beings in the coming future, there is the likelihood of the suggestion that, human beings no longer evolve physically, due to the fact that technology has resulted to cultural forms of evolution, thus replacing the traditional natural selection form of evolution. In the last decades, majority of scientists were of the opinion that, human physical evolution had come to an end. However, through DNA tests it has been cleat that Homo sapiens have been undergoing notable genetic changes and the rate at which this is happening is drastically raising. From this article, it is clear that, in the past, tracking evolution of human beings used to be the task of paleontologists, due to the fact that, they were the ones responsible for studying fossils bones, but this has since then changed. Fossils records indicate that, the oldest person, belonging to the Hominidae family unit, lived 195,000 years back in Ethiopia. Since then, the human race spread to different places across the globe (Kitgher, 2008). By 10,000 years ago, it become possible for the modern human beings to colonize various parts of the world, resulting to various cultures among other revolutionary forces such as what is known as races.
According to Ward (2009), it was clear that, at least 7% of the human genes from these people originating from various parts of the globe have undergone evolution. This study focused on genetic markers in 270 people from four notable groups namely Japanese, Yoruba, northern Europeans and Han Chinese. One of the examples is the adaptation to the changes taking place in the environment. For instance, people in Africa, Denmark, China and Sweden can be able to digest fresh milk as a result of their ability to adapt to dairy farming. Further, according to a study carried out by Pardis Sabeti from Harvard University, and used large data sets of variation in genome to check for presence of natural selections, 300 regions of the genome indicated that, there has been advancement in ways in which people are able to reproduce and survive (Ward, 2009).
For instance, in Africa, especially the Sub-Saharan Africa, people have been able to survive resistance to Lassa fever, a virus which results from great scourges. In Asia, Africa and Latin America regions, there has been partial resistance to diseases such as skin pigmentation, malaria as well as growth of hair follicles. It is estimated that, over the last 10,000 years human beings have evolved more than 100 times as compared to any other duration, since the earliest hominid split from the modern chimpanzees ancestors (Ward, 2009). As earlier indicated, this is attributable to the rapid pace of the environments in which human beings moved into resulting from cities and agriculture. It was not changes which took place in the landscape or farming that led to the evolution, but this is attributable to lethal combination of novel diet, poor sanitation emerging diseases such as malaria among other viral infections. These have clearly indicated that human beings are fast evolving, despite the perception of many people across the globe. However, Jones Steve from the University College London candidly indicated that, human evolution has come to an end. According to him

In the developed economies such as the U.S., the European region among others, a significant percentage of its population had the ability to attain the reproductive age. However, inherited diseases still survives among this population and the main differentiating factor of ones survival is determined by culture rather than genetic inheritance. According to majority of the scientists, in the future, there has been speculations that, even if intelligence may not be affected by human evolution, numerous heritable traits may accumulate, thus improving our living standards. As a result of these speculations, in future, comprehensive screening for genetic make-up may become common, thus making it easy to cure diseases such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and Tourettes syndrome among other uses. In the recent past, humans have become more interconnected with machines, thus our bodies can be linked with robots as we are significantly machine dependent (Ward, 2009). Although our technological capabilities enormously threatens the way in which the traditional works, it is clear that, human evolution is real and will continue over the years to come.
